Virginia doctor faces charges in fatal drunk driving accident

One of the biggest challenges for drivers is keep track of everything that is going on around the vehicle. When a driver is impaired by anything, such as fatigue or alcohol, the time it takes to respond to hazards might be affected. Serious accidents can happen when response time is negatively affected. These accidents can sometimes lead to criminal charges. For one Virginia doctor, a fatal accident involving a jogger has led to serious charges being filed against him.

Woodbridge man accused of three thefts on one day

A 45-year-old man from Woodbridge, Virginia, has been accused of engaging in three theft crimes on the same day. He faces two charges of robbery and one grand larceny charge. The first charge involves allegedly accosting a 43-year-old woman in a commuter parking lot at 2250 Prince William Parkway at 6:35 a.m. on a Friday morning in Prince William County. He was in his car according to police, and grabbed the woman's purse from her shoulder according to the woman's version of events.

21-year-old man accused of attacking two women

Sheriff's deputies in Frederick County, Virginia, claim that a 21-year-old man attacked two women in Winchester in separate incidents in December and January. The attacks purportedly both took place in the same residential complex, Preston Place Town Homes, located on Brigstock Drive. In the September incident, the deputies say, a woman found the defendant in her residence when she returned home. She claimed that the defendant attempted to take a knife away from her, and that she suffered superficial wounds in the ensuing struggle.

PTSD veteran gets 18 months for fatal DWI crash

A Virginia veteran who killed his best friend during a car accident in June 2013 will serve 18 months in prison in connection with the wreck. The early morning DWI crash left one victim dead after the allegedly intoxicated driver lost control of his vehicle while driving in Richmond. Official reports show that the man's blood alcohol content at the time of the collision was about 0.16 percent, or twice the legal limit for driving in the state of Virginia.

Assault charges filed against man thrown out of bar

A 23-year-old man from Alexandria, Virginia, was arrested after being thrown out of a bar. He is facing two assault charges classified as felonies as well as one charge of misdemeanor assault. During the altercation while he was being removed from the bar, he assaulted the bar's bouncer, as well as a firefighter and a police officer, according to authorities.
