Man accused of stealing pizza delivery car after fight

When emotions spiral out of control during the heat of an argument, men and women can be led to do irrational things they would not normally. Often, these momentarily lapses in judgment can be met with swift and strict punishment that alters an individual's life forever.

This might have been the case in a recent incident that saw a 21-year-old man arrested and hit with a litany of criminal charges after police claim he stole a vehicle.

Police stated that they reported to a call during the afternoon one day where a 15-year-old boy told authorities that he had gotten in an argument with the 21-year-old man, who was a family member. The two engaged in a physical altercation, which spilled out into the lobby of their apartment building. The fight caused property damage to the lobby, which would unfortunately be the least of the 21-year-old man's worries.

After that, the man allegedly jumped behind the wheel of a car that was running in the parking lot. The vehicle belonged to a pizza delivery person and was unattended at the time.

The man allegedly drove the stolen vehicle down the road where he eventually collided with a parked vehicle and a tractor trailer that also had no one in it. Police said after the incident the man made his way back home, where officers caught up with him. He was treated for his injuries at a hospital before being taken into police custody.

He is being charged with hit-and-run, grand larceny of a vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended license, among other charges -- many of them associated with the fight at the apartment.

By pleading guilty and cooperating with authorities, the man could see some of his charges dropped. He might also be presented with the opportunity to plead guilty to lesser charges. However, if he and his legal team feel that he was wrongfully accused, they could try their hand at a jury trial in an effort to clear his name.
