Charges of drunk driving have been replaced with reckless driving against professional wrestler Kurt Angle. Officers say Angle failed a preliminary breath test and had difficulty completing a field sobriety test after he was pulled over in early September outside of Linden.
A Salem nurse who admitted she had become addicted to narcotics following an ankle injury will serve a 30-day jail term for stealing prescription drugs for personal use from a veterans hospital. The health care professional, who is banned from nursing by the courts, has been sober and in recovery for the last two years.
Over-the-counter medications like Sudafed, which contains pseudoephedrine or PSE, are restricted to buyers who can identify themselves or sign for the drugs. The Virginia law limits PSE purchases because the nonprescription drugs can be used for manufacturing methamphetamine. Some officials say the drug law is too lax to prevent drug-related offenses.
